Operation Rosemary 2025
In 1923, Legacy made a promise to help families after the loss or injury of a loved one in military service.
To this day, we still ensure these families always have someone to turn to for support.
There are so many ways you can help the promise live on. Whether you host a fundraising event, make a donation,
or join Legacy as a volunteer, your support will have a real impact on the families of our fallen and injured veterans.
On Anzac Day, rosemary is our gift to the public, but many choose to donate for their sprig.
These donations go directly towards supporting the families of our veterans.
Rosemary has a long and storied history in the Australian war effort.
During World War I, soldiers would often carry sprigs of rosemary as a symbol of remembrance for their fallen comrades.
This tradition continues today, with rosemary being used as a symbol of remembrance on Anzac Day.
Leading up to and on Anzac Day, Legacy distributes rosemary to the public as a symbol of remembrance.
You can help keep the Promise.

Honour their service by supporting families like Rebecca's
The impact of military service reaches far beyond the courageous soldiers on the frontline. Her then husband Andrew’s return from Afghanistan in 2012 was marked by the lasting effects of PTSD, reshaping their family’s life.
“I was young and naive when it came to understanding the war... I had never heard the words post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which became an acronym I nearly used daily.”
Rebecca’s story exemplifies the profound challenges faced by families of veterans. A single mother to three boys—Jordan (14), Mason (10), and Henry (4)—Rebecca balances raising her children, working at a local school, and pursuing a university degree in primary education.
Legacy stepped in when Rebecca needed it most, providing financial assistance for school uniforms, childcare fees, and extracurricular activities, giving her children opportunities to grow and thrive. Today, Rebecca is pursuing a degree in primary school education. Legacy has assisted her with grants for university and a laptop for her studies.
“Because of Legacy, I’ve been able to attend university with a little less stress, knowing that someone believes in me and is invested in my success.”

How will your venue honour our veterans and their families this Anzac Day?
Here are some of the ways you might like to show its support in the lead-up to or on Anzac Day:
- Donate $2 from every beer or schnitzel sale.
- Donate the proceeds from any Two-up games.
- Gift rosemary to patrons and collect donations with a Rosemary Tray.
- Create a rosemary-inspired drink or meal and donate a portion of every sale – we can provide you with the rosemary!
- Install a Legacy Tap and have patrons by a symbolic beer for our veterans and their families.
Need some inspiration?
Last year, The Grifter Brewing Co. in Marrickville generously donated $1 from every schooner of its Anzac-biscuit inspired beer, The Spinner. The limited-edition ale was released on Anzac Day as a salute to our Aussie veterans and their families, available at its main brewery and multiple participating venues.
