Legacy Visitor Program (LVP)
The Legacy Visitor Program aims to reduce social isolation experienced by older Australians. It does this by linking a volunteer with an older person for regular, ongoing visits and goal of building a friendship. These visits occur in the person’s home, including in Aged Care Facilities.
Some people feel alone for various reasons, including:
• little contact with friends or relatives
• feeling isolated from their culture and heritage
• mobility issues that prevent them from taking part in social or leisure activities
• feeling lower in mood
Regular visits by volunteers (fortnightly), can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.
