The night before Leniece’s husband, Rick, passed away in March 2024, everything seemed fine. They came home, had dinner and their two young sons, Riley and Harry, were tucked into bed.
But just a few hours later, Rick had a heart attack. He was only 48 years old.
As a sergeant in the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) with 24 years of service, he had two major loves in his life: his family and his career.
Now, Leniece, and her two young sons, Harry and Riley, are figuring out how to navigate life without Rick.
Thankfully, Legacy stepped in to offer the emotional and practical support she needs to navigate her grief and manage everyday life, raising her two sons. This has included advocacy assistance, financial aid and giving them a safe space to process their grief.
By donating this Legacy Week, you can help ensure other veterans’ families like Leniece’s receive the support they need and deserve.
They may not know your name, but your gift will ensure our Legacy families know they are not alone.
Legacy is a charity that exists to care for military families
Legacy started as a promise from one digger to another on the battlefield.
"Don't worry mate, I'll take care of your family."
100 years later, Legacy still exists to care for and support the military families
of our returned soldiers.
At Legacy, we know that family is the most important thing.
