A century of service to our veterans' families
Legacy is an iconic Australian charity dedicated to supporting the families of deceased and seriously injured veterans. We are one of the only organisations in the world that does this important work.
For over 100 years, Legacy has helped hundreds of thousands of Australian widows, families and children of soldiers who have lost their lives or health during or following service in all conflicts since World War I to Iraq.
With the help of a group of dedicated volunteers, known as Legatees, Legacy currently supports more than 28,000 widows, children and dependants across the nation.

We are there in times of hardship, providing financial support. We provide for basic needs, and advocate for their rights and benefits.
Social Connection Services
We are there in times of loss and grief, providing ongoing social support to those we serve.
Developmental Opportunities
We are there for the long term, providing for the educational and development goals of families.
Our Impact
Peter served his country in Iraq, Afghanistan and East Timor. He was constantly living in a war zone. When he returned home, the impact of his experiences led to mental illness, a new kind of battle for which he wasn’t trained.
His wife Gwen, and their children, were profoundly shaped by Peter's post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). For the time they had him, they lived with his deep depression, his anxiety, and the spates of anger and violence.
Peter was battling all manner of demons. He didn't feel worthy of love and tragically lost his battle with depression.

At Legacy we know that there is no replacement for a loved one, but Legacy tirelessly works to make sure no one left behind in any way because of a veteran's service.
Legacy supports families when their loved one is lost or returns from service injured or unwell.

Donations over $2 are tax-deductible.
Every contribution of $2 or more can be claimed in your tax return, helping you make an even greater impact at no extra cost to you.
